The Boyces

Our famous relatives came to visit. Well, not really famous, but practically.
They live in Los Angeles, and work in the entertainment industry.

My sister, Crystal is a talented make-up artist. Check out some of her work here.

Her husband Deon is an AD (Assistant Director). He's worked on several big budget movies, but the only one I can think of at the moment is Twilight. (Sorry, Deon)

Obviously they are way cooler than we are.

We loved having them visit.
Crystal is everything Scout adores.
Fancy make-up. Fancy clothes. Fancy long hair.
Oh, so fancy.

I am so blessed to have a sister that I admire and look up to and can be shamelessly silly with.
As a child I never had to be worried or afraid...I always had my big sister.
I love you, Crystal.

Christmastime

These are a few of my favorites from Christmas Day...
Stockings!
I realize her eyes are closed, but I thought she looked so sweet anyway.
Paper crowns from our poppers

Santa (aka Daddy) stayed up very late out in the cold assembling this fancy contraption.

This was my very favorite gift. It's from my Mom, she made it as a child in primary.

Heaven is Here

i just finished reading this book

it has changed my outlook on life and motherhood. it hasn't changed what i hold most dear, but it has helped me to make those things a priority.  I am enjoying the journey.

Thank you Nie Nie for sharing your hope.

A Vacation

Hello, again...it's been awhile...

Back in February we went on a lovely vacation to San Diego.  My half-brother Johnny got married in a small town near San Diego, so we decided to make a trip out of it.  Ryan was not able to attend the wedding because of work, so I drove down to my sister's home in Los Angeles on a Friday, attended the wedding on Saturday, and Ryan flew down and joined us Monday morning....Unfortunately, Scout and Sebastian were both sick most of the weekend I spent at my sister's house, but we had some fun notwithstanding...

That is my sister's step-son Greg, and yes he was in "Twilight" (he drove the van that almost hit Bella)
San Diego...
We went to the San Diego Zoo

Visited the Temple

This is at the Mormon Battalion Historic Site
...and did other fun stuff not pictured here. We stayed in a condo with a beautiful view of the ocean.  It was a wonderful, relaxing vacation.

Sebastian's Birthday Post

His birthday was December 10th, The party was the 11th. So this post is 1 month and 18 days late. I just haven't felt like blogging. But here it is now. You may bask in the joy and wonder of it all...

Do you love the awesome beanie Grannie made for him?

I can't believe how fast this year has flown! He is such a sweet, happy little guy, I love him more than I know how to express.

Sebastian is a Genius!

Well maybe not a genius, but pretty darn smart in my biased opinion...

The other day as he was strewing laundry all over the living room, he found one of Scout's socks and tried to put it on! He's only 13 months so he didn't have much luck, but he was holding up his chubby foot, and touching it with the sock.

So Amazing!

Scout stands in the corner

 Here's how it went:

For her snack yesterday, Scout chose a pudding cup. She was all set, happily eating her pudding at the kitchen table, as I went outside to start a load of laundry. When I re-entered the kitchen, Scout greeted me with her empty pudding cup, and her hands and face covered in pudding...

Me: "Stay right there, I'm gonna go get the wipes."
     Scout: Starts clapping...pudding is flying
Me: "Stop clapping. You're making a mess."
     Scout: continues clapping

I hold Scouts wrists apart, hoping to steer her to the wipes without making any more mess. Scout goes limp, head hanging back. I'm trying not to let her face or hands touch anything.

     Me: "Stand Up."

Scout continues hanging limp. She thinks this whole thing is very funny.

Me: "Stand up or you'll have to stand in the corner."
Scout: "I wanna stand in the corner."
Me: "Okay, stand up and you can stand in the corner."

Scout stands up. I clean off her face and hands.

     Scout: "Where da corner?"

I smile and show her how to stand in the corner. Then Scout stands in the corner with a big grin on her face.

I'm not proud of how I handled this situation, I know it's only pudding. And I don't generally like the idea of putting a child in the corner, but time outs don't work for her and I was trying to figure out how to get her to stand up! Anyway hopefully I'll do better next time...I LOVE that little girl.
